Just like to review a new set of oars that Croker have put out which uh I really quite like
mostly because of the adjustment the oars themselves are very similar to standard Croker blade which is which is great but what they've done is they've made it so it's so easy to adjust with the oars we had before there'd be two screws here that we'd have to undo in order to make a difference there and they've got a new mechanism for adjusting the collar which is really useful particularly for schools and clubs and the like
so let's just look at first the first thing to understand in this particular set of oars you can see here it's got the it's got the length of the oar there and they're saying these are 287s and then how you make the oar longer or shorter is instead of undoing the two screws we had to do before all you need to do is just undo this little nut here just a little bit and then just push it in and then you can adjust the oar so if i push that in a bit i can adjust it in and out you can see on on this piece here see how they've got zero at that point and then minus one so plus one plus two plus three and minus on the other side so at that point there just let the button go lock in place and it's 287 if i want to make them uh 286 then i just take it into there locks it in place if you want to make it longer i go the other way then all you need to do is to do this up if you don't it's not a disaster usually but the oar is not going to come out handle's not going to come out but do that up just finger tight and and it's fixed if you want to give it a tweak with a screwdriver then of course you can but not really necessary and so to adjust it again just undo it a few turns and just slide it in where you want it to be and do it up again really handy way of adjusting it as far as the collar goes in the collar instead of having to undo the screws and click it along they've got this quick release here so all we need to do is undo that and then adjust it to where we want it and
so adjust it to where we want it and then just click it back down again so really simple mechanism for adjusting an oar it's got a few things to think about it's got a different collar here different sleeve rather on this part so it's got a different sleeve here than the one on the standard pre-existing Croker blade so you'd need to change that but you can take that sleeve off and put a new sleeve on make sure you get the pitch right of course when you're doing that and then this new system will work fine there
this part here is really just part of the oar the thing to remember as well is just like the before with the Croker blades the uh for a blue and the yellow handle then you can just use the same stub if you want to have a pink handle then you need to get a different stub that's got the smaller part inside the handle so for my my opinion I reckon these are really good it's really frustrating if you're in a hurry to change your oars when you're at a regatta going from one race to the next but with this system it's just so simple very easy and this part here again no screws no screwdriver required just push it in and just put it to where you want it let it go just tighten it up finger tight and we're ready to go really good uh talk to Coker about it and uh they haven't got it yet for sweep oars because there's some technical difficulties with that but uh i'm sure that eventually they'll have that as well so as far as a quick adjusting good quality oar i really like this new mechanism no screwdriver required that's just you can do it on the fly you could even do it while you're out in the boat if you want to test different lengths for example if you're out with an athlete and you're trying to to experiment with having different length oars then a different length inboard different length total oar it's so easy to do you could do it while you're out on the water so really good product
