So for someone who hasn't rowed before when they get on a rowing machine you often see the first thing they do is they don't really know what to do with their body and their arms around the finish they'll come in like this and they'll sort of start to move forward they haven't moved their arms or their body yet so they roll a bit like this
and so what they haven't done there is got the right sequence of movements around the finish so they haven't got their arms away and their body over so when do you break the knees it's a question that a lot of coaches slightly differ on the opinion of but we recommend when you get to the finish tap down as you start to come forward a little bit with your body so when it gets to about the vertical position you want to soften your knees so what we mean by those just let them pop up a little bit so get to the finish pop up and forward so hands out body starts going over knees soften come forward
body over
so if you're just starting off it's probably best to try and do it in the exact sequence so you want to have arms out body over then forward as you get a bit more experienced you can sort of blend them all together so at the finish hands out body over come forward
