So a good exercise to do is what we call circle work in a pair so basically it means you have one one row rowing while the other person sets the boat up and a pair is a really good boat because it's quite unstable and you really have to think about what you're doing so if you're the other person you really have to who's not rowing you really have to think about getting the boat into the right position so it's balanced but so when when they move it doesn't tip the boat over likewise the person rowing has to be really conscious about moving up and down the middle of the boat to make sure that they're not doing any unnecessary movements because the pair will tip over if you had doing this exercise in a four it would be nowhere near as nowhere near as hard so having having the pair and a quite unstable boat makes a really good tool for beginners learning how to row and indeed experienced people learning how to row gives you a chance to have the boat a bit more set up than it would be normally but not so set up as you won't be able to feel what you're doing and feel what impact you're having on the boat and indeed it's better for them to ride with the oars flat on the water for a while so they've got a stable platform for as they learn to row a pair you've got to practice it a little bit so that the person who's setting it up understands that they keep the boat as level as they can they don't want it leaning right over on their side because then that'll distort things for the other athlete that's trying to row but what it does do it gives a stable platform and it gives the athlete that's practicing who is actually doing the rowing it gives them a really uh easy way to row without having to worry about balance where the boat's going anything like that so circle work and repair is a pretty handy handy tool for for most athletes
